May 2008 This outfit called my in-laws this morning and asked for me by a name that I have not legally had (since a divorce in 1982) for over 25 years! There is not possibly any debt outstanding from that previous marriage - nor will I be held responsible, at this point, for any debt incurred by my former (and probably still a) deadbeat husband. Isn't there a statute of limitations on some of this sort of stuff? I am just insulted and appalled that they are calling my family and asking for me by this name, and I will not be responding (my in-laws said they didn't know anyone by the name requested by this outfit, thankfully).
May 2008 they have called us over 15 times looking for someone who does not live here we have been kind and asked to be removed from there list and they still call i will file a form with fbi.gov out of ny state i kept all records and times numbers called from written down
March 2008 I just got off the phone with one of these wonderful collectors Ms. Hawkes, a real piece of work. This company is real good about degrading a person and want all the moneys . I was reading one of the comments about the person that made one payment and they said she made arrg for post dated check. Ms Hawkes also said I did the same thing did not agree to any of this and even asked to hear the recording of me making this agreement she refused she refused all my requests were declined and threaten with a suit...and trying to make me say thing to get me in more trouble. bad bad people.
2007 The man I talked to Fred Santo, is a cocky SOB. I had a bank of America card which was charged off at 1519 dollars. I received a letter from them stating I owed 1519 on Oct 9 2007 and to contact them by October 23. I did so and was going to take a loan out to pay it off. when i talked to him he said i now owe 1900 but he will settle for 1700 and i said ok. no money sent yet at this point. He said i had till October 31 to pay. i couldn't get a loan by that time. But i recently did get approved to pay them off. I called nov 4, 2007 and he now says i owe 2200. i said how did that happen he said interest. I was asking him questions which he would not answer at all like how he came to that number and what interest rate they were charging. I said i would pay the 1519 and that's it. he said he would get a judgment against me and that they will garnish my wages and then he hung up on me.
2007 I am currently dealing with this agency and they have threatened to sue me since I couldn't pay what they were telling me to pay. I only owe $2000 and they have told me that they will settle the debt for $2400. Well, that is fine but I don't have it and I told them that I was dealing directly with my credit card people. The man I was speaking to then called me and "idiot" and said that I "was throwing my money away by paying Providian". What are my chances of actually being sued by these crazy people? and can they do that when I am making payments to my creditor? Please help, this is my first time in ever dealing with something like this.
2007 This guy called me this morning and said he was a collection lawyer for Daniels & Norelli and was calling to collect on an old outstanding debt for a credit card i had about 6 or 7 years ago. I do admit I screwed up and never paid the card off and it built up to a point that the froze my bank account 4 years ago and I had 4,500 bucks frozen which really screwed me. In order to use obtain some money from my account i had to give them some of it. I ended up giving 1,500 bucks, thought it was a settlement and now they are saying i owe a lot more plus interest. What am i gonna do, I'm already broke. You're gonna email us details.
2007 I am currently being pursued by
someone from this firm and while I think the debt itself is
legitimate (about $2,000) I am wondering about the
legitimacy of the firm of Daniels and Norelli in light of
what you have written here.
The debt was incurred originally several years ago when I
was unemployed and I am once again unemployed, although
looking to start my own business this time. But the state
tells me to remain eligible for their "self-employment"
program through the department of labor, I cannot engage in
any business activities. Hence they are forcing me to remain
on unemployment and sit idle instead of possibly starting a
business that can provide me with almost immediate income.
How's that for the logic of the State?
Anyway, given funds are extremely limited right now, I am
wondering if I should try to squeeze these guys some $$ or
forget it for the moment.
2007 I received a letter in march
from Daniels and Norelli, Sometime in April I returned their
call.. THe letter was in regards to a debt from household. I
explained to Mr. Lupo that I was unable to make a commitment
of repayment under the terms he was offering. 1. a
settlement amount. 2. 2 payments of equal amounts. or one
payment of 20% and the rest in 5 equal installments. I told
him I did not have this kind of money.
HE then called me a deadbeat and did I think the merchandise
was free ect ect. He said I had called just in time for him
to retrieve my case as it was in a fedex envelope on its way
to my county for court filing. Well that scared me and I
agreed to the 20% and 5 payments. Gave him banking
info during this conversation.. I then hung-up with him and
he called and said he needed check numbers Not phantom
numbers.
A few days went by and I decided that I would not honor this
agreement without some type of written statement from him,
outlining the payments and that after said payments the debt
would be paid. I tried calling and eventually left a
recording stating these facts, and not to make the
withdrawls. I then faxed a letter to this affect. Then
called my bank and stopped payment on that series of checks
I verbally gave him over the phone.
Everyone kept telling me do not talk to this man again, so
when he called my home and left a very scary message saying,
Your message was garbled but if its about your checks, you
better know that if they come back for any reason he will
have me arrested for check fraud. " You are opening up a can
of worms you don't want to deal with" he said. HE said I had
one hour to return his call or else he would corner me and
someone from my county law enforcement would be coming to my
home. As he hung he said ONE HOUR now 59 minutes.
The next day received message on cell phone, with the same
jist but this time he tells me his pushing the checks
through and I can just stand trail for check fraud. I am
really scared and unable to sleep, concentrate or
communicate with my husband or kids. Can I really be
prosecuted for check fraud I just don't now where to turn.
2007 i received a very STRONG phone call from a Mr. Deal at the firm of Pennisi, Daniels & Norelli. they insisted that I pay them a debt owed to a credit card company ( i did in fact owe), and that if I didn't i would face all the legal fees and court costs. While i have not been employed for some time they didn't want to hear about the reasons i was unable to pay. i was given 2 hours to get the money or they threatened to sue me. Well, i was so intimidated by this that I called my elderly mother and she borrowed the money to help me. I hope they are legitimately going to pay the debt and I have not been stolen from. (I think every Con Man in North America wishes he had your phone number.)
2007 I have had two conversations with this company where the person's name calling with my file, Ron Newbald, where Mr. Newbald was polite and willing to have a civil conversation. The third conversation when I informed him of my intent to take care of my debt, and when, how etc. ended with him saying, and I quote "so you just intend to sit on your butt and pay whenever you d*&n well feel like it" "you can't have your cake and eat it to" "I have your credit report on file here and we will use your credit card, or I will take a post dated check, etc. so we can get this settled today or you can continue to ignore this and we will take you to court. Needless to say, I informed him I was aware of the Fair Debt Act and he still seemed to think he could say whatever he wanted.
2007 After googling the name of Daniels and Norelli, I came to this site. It did my heart good to read this. I just received a letter from them yesterday. I have been dealing with them since June '06. They have called me names, insulted me on every level, and believe it or not, refused to send me a validation letter. I would love to see justice not only for me, but for everyone else they have harassed.
2007 I actually originally owed money to a credit card thru Credit One Bank. I am 57 years old, alone and currently going thru cancer treatments for breast cancer. When I was diagnosed in March I wrote my creditors and told them the situation. I told them I was in the hospital and would be out of work for a few months but would catch up when I returned to work. I sent letters from the oncologist, surgeon and my employer showing I was unable to work. Most all the other creditors were okay with it and even though they weren't happy they didn't give me grief. I received a letter from Credit One, I still have that letter that says well unfortunately we don't care basically what the situation is. We don't have a program to help anyone and you are still responsible. After receiving threatening calls from Credit One letting me know I owe the debt, which I knew I did, and told them of the circumstances they said well you didn't mind getting the card and charging it up and it's not our fault you got sick. So they turned around and charged it off. The next thing I know is I get a letter and a call from Norelli. I explained I would try to work something out and that I had tried to work with capital one. She said well it's not their concern anymore it's ours. Capital one was only owed $1100. Now it's up to $2000.00. They continued monthly to charge interest and late fees and then charged it off and now this company has it and is charging late fees and interest but it's still on my credit report as being charged off. I know that my credit has suffered terribly from this. I have tried whatever I can to get caught up and once I get thru this chemo treatment etc. I will but they call and harass me constantly. The last call she told me that when I decided to come to my senses and send $1000 now and $1000 in two weeks then they would work on getting that removed from my credit. I offered to try to make payments and she said I was in no position to try to negotiate.
I currently work for Daniels & Norelli and have read all the comments from the consumers that my company is/has dealt with, the consumers to some extent has told the truth about how the company approached them in receiving money due. I have also gone out my way to get the consumer to pay off a debt, by harassing or threatening them. I enjoy the work that I do and reap the benefits that I receive in return. The income is great and I hope to make more in the coming months to years working for this company. Daniels & Norelli's approach is not all that legal, but works to get the job done.
My nightmare with Daniels and
Norelli/Colorado Capital Investments is going on its third
year. Three years ago I was contacted by Colorado Capital
regarding a judgment that had been placed on a credit card
issued by Providian. I have not had that credit card since
at least 1999. The judgment was for 3,000.00 initially. The
card I had with Providian only had a limit of 900.00, and I
did owe that amount. I was also paying Providian, who was
illegally
holding my payments until after the due date in order to
charge me a late charge. They were taken to court over this
in a famous class action lawsuit in 2001.
I never received a copy of the judgment in the mail--and I
have kept the US Post Office apprised of my forwarding
address each time I have moved (I lived in Buffalo for five
years and moved twice). I called Colorado Capital trying to
resolve it and was treated quite rudely by their collections
agents (I got a new one every time I called and they didn't
seem to know one another's names when I would reference the
prior agent I had spoken with). Instead, Colorado Capital
keeps saying I owe more and more money--the grand total
after three years of trying to work with these idiots is
3,750.00. I made a good faith effort to resolve this dispute
even though I never owed 3,000.00
on the original bill. I sent Colorado Capital money--they
sent it back to me with no explanation. For six weeks
straight I tried to work with them, tried sending money,
everything a person ought to do to resolve the situation,
and each time they refused my efforts to resolve. Instead,
they started putting holds on my bank accounts.
First they put a hold on my Fleet bank account--luckily, I
only had 15.00 in the account. I called them, got that
lifted, and opened an account at Key Bank. Not a week later,
Colorado Capital placed a hold on that account too, for
TWICE the amount I owed them. I was told by the bank that
New York State law allows collection agencies
to put holds on bank accounts for twice what the account
holder owes. This makes no sense to me. Because I didn't
want 6,500.00 of any potential deposited funds seized, and
because Colorado Capital would not give me a straight answer
as to whether they would stop putting holds on my accounts
if I did pay them what they wanted, I stopped using the
bank. When, in my effort to resolve it, I told the
collection agent where I worked, (Starbucks'), they
then put a garnishment on my paycheck. They refused a
payment of three hundred dollars so they could garnish my
check for 6.00 a week. This is just bizarre behavior.
I have not used a bank in nearly five years because I am
afraid they're going to keep stalking me from bank to bank
putting holds on my accounts. They told me when I offered to
settle with Providian that Providian wouldn't talk to me
because they no longer owned the account. This
turned out to be the case. So, in short, a 900.00 bill is
now costing me almost 4,000.00.
There's got to be a statute of limitations on this. I sent
them a "Cease and Desist" letter today, but just because
they can no longer communicate doesn't mean they can't keep
putting holds on my bank accounts. I'm at my wit's end with
these people. I refuse to pay them, and have just accepted
the fact this will be on my credit report for the rest of my
life.
I read on your website that
you wanted information on this firm. I received a letter
from them demanding payment. The letterhead reads:
