November 2008
I wrote regarding CollectCorp about two weeks ago--Anyway,
they broke the law AGAIN.
I specfically told them not to call me at work because my
boss disapproves of such calls.
So, of course they called me at work.
I am so considering suing these guys.
November 2008 I had a credit card go to this company a little over three weeks ago. The woman I intially spoke with was actually quite courteous and professional. We set up a payment plan, but I ended up being unable to meet the obligations. During this time, I spoke to the aforementioned agent as well as a supervisor. After failed similar attempts to pay, I got a voicemail from a seemingly different office saying that an account had been placed with them and were willing to discuss.

October 2008 Wow! My husband and I just had the rudest person call us claiming to be from Collectcorp. Actually, the first gentleman was professional and he and my husband were making progress and had actually agreed on a reasonable monthly payment on my husband's defaulted student loan. (Yes, I admit, we have not made a payment in a year...we have two kids in college...) until my husband was told that he had not made a payment since 2002, which is not the case! When asked why the discrepancy, this collector could or would not give him any information and just seemed very evasive. When my husband refused to give out his bank acct. # and agree to monthly debits from our acct. and then asked for something in writing and or a monthly statement, things got downright ugly!
April 2008 For the last two month I started getting calls from These people. John Carlo Agostino and Ms Ramadani were calling my home and cell phone number, They were looking for my former roommate who since May 2007. I told them, he longer lives at this address, and the numbers they are calling are under my name, and they must calling me. They told this is the number they have and they will keep calling until they are able to reach my former roommate. She said I can be held responsible for my roommates debt. last week when I checked my credit report I have noticed American Express account listed under my report. (Now remember I was not co-signer, co-applicant and I am not the card holder) I have immediately disputed as NOT my account with Equifax, Experian and transunion. With 2 weeks I received letter from all 3 companies confirming that account has been deleted from my record (keeping these letter in safe deposit box). About two weeks I ago they started calling me at work, that's when I reached boiling point. I told them phone line is being recorded by my employer (that's true my employer does record incoming and outgoing calls) and my employer does not allow to me to receive these types of calls. I have asked there mailing address so I could send them cease and desist, they would provide my even when I called there number 866 251 2396 and spoke to the person answer the phone I asked All I needed was there mailing address so I could mailed a letter? They person why do you need mailing address when everything can be done over the phone. He asked if I have account# or If I could give him my phone number to verify the reason? I have googled there phone number and did some research and I found address in NY and AZ I send them 2 ceased and desist certified mail letter. to there company Since then I got my quite life back. I thought It was illegal for collection agency to place wrong/inaccurate information on your credit report? Secondly why do I have to be harassed with my former roommate debt or problem. I think its time we tell our lazy elected officials to create better and stronger consumer protection laws. I think we can and should be defeating lobbyist for banking industry. I am great full people like Bud Hibbs, people at privacy clearing house and other consumer site really helped me fine the laws that protects my rights.
2007 I have a B.O.A credit card and have been making payments; just not minimum payments. A family member of my fine received a phone call from them stating that they weer trying to reach me. I ended up calling back and they wanted to settle credit card. They wanted me to pay the whole thing, I told them I did not have the money. We were going to do a payment plan and when I called the next day to get it set up, I was told that option was no longer available to me. They wanted me to pay half now, and I told them that I didn't have the money. We finally reached a settlement but I told them that I needed in writing and they are refusing to do that. I don't' know what else to do. I want to get this matter resolved ad quickly as possible.
2007 I've been receiving repeated phone calls from various people at Collect Corp. These people have been tremendously rude each time and have refused to have any kind of civil conversation. After learning about the Fair Debt Collections Practice Act, I called Collect Corp to get their mailing address so I could send a letter to them requesting that they stop contacting me. An employee who gave the name Warren Hill was extremely rude, yelled at me, and repeatedly refused to provide the company's mailing address. Warren Hill asked for my social security number, which I refused to provide, and he told me he didn't believe I was who I said I was. He said several mailings from the company (I have never received ANYTHING by mail from Collect Corp). My husband took the phone from me to try to reason with Warren Hill, who continued to be very agitated and threatening. In addition, the Fair Debt Collections Practice Act says a collector must, within five days, send written notice of the amount owed, the name of the creditor, and action to take. I've never gotten anything but nasty phone calls with mixed messages from this company. Should I report them to the Attorney General?
2007 Collectcorp has been threatening me
and my husband about a Bank of America account that has been
sent to them. First off, my husband had a Wachovia account,
which was opened in 1996. After hearing from Collectcorp, we
checked his credit report and that Wachovia account was
missing and a Bank of America account from 1996 was there in
its place. First, I want to know how this happened and what
should we do? Dispute the Bank of America account or what?
Ok, so collectcorp called our house and I spoke to them. I
refused to give them any information and they continuously
called and harassed us. They threatened to contact our
mortgage company (which they can't do) and when I mentioned
the law to them, they wanted to know how I even knew about
the law. He said that he did not have to talk the law with
me. He kept calling every day and we refused to pick up the
phone (we have caller ID). Then, one day, he called my
husband's parents and asked to speak to my husband's father.
This is once again a violation of the law. Two cease and
desist communication letters have been sent to them and they
refuse to comply. They called our house every day last week
and again we never picked up the phone. Last night, our
phone rang and I picked it up (it was not the number I knew
for collectcorp). A woman by the name of Rachel was there
and mentioned this same Bank of America account. She asked
if I would take a phone number down for my husband and I
asked her to wait a minute so I could get paper and a pen.
When I said I was ready, I heard a click on the phone, and
this guy (the same one that had called us all of those other
times previously) was there on the line. I immediately hung
up. This bait and switch is also against the law. He
immediately called back and I did not pick up the phone. He
threatened us again, talked about my husband's job, and then
said that all options we had will expire at noon today. I
know he is full of it. Please let us know what to do. A few
weeks ago, I filed a complaint with the Texas State Attorney
General, and after last night's call, I may file another
complaint with them, as well as with the federal trade
commission. They are in violation of the law in so many ways
and I want them to be held responsible.
