June 2008 I was
contacted by a member of this company a few
weeks ago. I asked who this was and the guy said
and I qoute: "I am you're Father!" end qoute. I
told him that my Dad has been dead since the
early 1990's.
I later got a call from a woman from the same
place and she said that she is my mother! Mum is
also passed. Like I would not know what my own
parents sound like.
I told her that if they try this tactic again I
would make their life hell in the courts. I am a
former Australian Army officer. We Aussies do
not take kindly to threats and we stand our
ground.
I am a victim of ID theft and they know it. I
get calls from them from time to time. They once
tried to say that I had won the lottery and they
need my bank account details to deposit my
winnings. I knew that was not right and I knew
the voice so I asked what system did I play and
he said it was the main Texas game. (I live in
the USA now wife my American wife)
The funny thing is I do not play the lottery. So
why would I had won it? Did he think that I
would be so dumb to think I had won something
that I do not even play?
March 19, 2007 I wanted to send you my dearest thanks. I am a very young college student who has had some trouble with credit and such. I have received hundreds of phone calls at work and on my cell from these "people trying to help me out". They have informed my boss on numerous occasions that I am a worthless employee who will be in jail soon (I still don't see any handcuffs). They have actually used numerous amounts of profanity to my mother and I, but yet refuse to speak to my attorney. I was actually considering paying them to get off of my back until I read these words of encouragement. I feel better knowing that I may have my debt paid off and was still not taken advantage of. I simply called the company in which I had the debt and asked where it was turned over too. Thank you for all of your help.
January 2007 This company actually put a hold on my mom's bank account that is solely used for direct deposit of her social security benefits. It's her only source of income. We were informed by the Social Security administration that this is not legal, because they are not collecting on a federal debt. My mother is retired but when she was working they put a garnishment on her paycheck, but if you ask them, they have no record of collecting any money from her. Big surprise there. Good thing she kept all her pay stubs and can prove it. Not to mention all of the harassing phone calls she received while working. They even called and asked to speak to her boss on numerous occasions!
November 2006 After a messy divorce I discovered my wife was no longer paying the bills she had agreed to in our divorce. In an effort to keep my credit as clean as possible I paid every bill as I became aware of them. Usually when looking over my annual credit report on my birth month. This summer I discovered one more that stemmed from our marriage and settled the debt with the Law Firm the credit card company hired to handle the debt. Within a month of my settling with the law firm CRS (Capitol Recovery Services, formerly known as Shekinah Inc.) started calling me to collect on the debt. I’ve faxed them several copies of the letter from the lawyer stating I paid already and no monies are owed, yet they still continue to harass me via my cell phone. I’ve sent them certified return receipt requested letter with photocopies of the paid in full letter, and a cease communication request. Now I’ll wait to see what happens. Fortunately I found this web site, I would have probably either paid it again or had to hire an attorney if otherwise. Thanks to everyone on here for letting me know about these firms. Also I appreciate the other information; to include the statute of limitations, how to talk to debt collectors, etc. I only wish I had found this site earlier.
