September 2008    This law firm has been calling me like crazy. My daughter made a horrible choice and tried to steal from Wal-Mart. There were no charges filed and she went home with me. I was told that she was not allowed back into the store for a year, which is fine due to the fact that I don't shop there. Now all of a sudden These people are calling me saying I must pay $150.00 right now for a fine in my daughters behalf. I retorted by asking for something in writing, and was told they had already mailed me a notice, and that I needed to give them my credit or debt card number over the phone to clear this fine. "RIGHT" and I was born a complete idiot!! I was also told when I asked that another copy of the letter be sent to me that they could not do this due to the fact that people use the I didn't get the letter excuse to get out of paying their fines. Well listen here you brain dead lawyers, don't you think if the people you were trying to collect on were pulling that on you that you would be smart enough to send out certified notices?? This is a crack pot operation and it only confirms why I WILL NEVER SUPPORT WAL-MART BY SHOPPING THERE!!

June 2008    Is it really possible that Wal-Mart hires Bennett & Deloney to collect "civil settlements" (or "civil penalties") from people who have been caught (suspected of) shoplifting, when police are not called, and the suspects are only asked to sign a statement saying they will not come back into the store? I have talked to two people who have received (or are receiving) letters and phone calls from Bennett & Deloney because they were stopped at the doors of Wal-Mart on suspicion of stealing items that retail for about $20 -- and, now, this collector wants a couple hundred from each. Neither "suspect" that I talked to got a copy of the statement he signed; one said there was nothing on it stating he was liable for civil damages or that he would be contacted by a collector or law firm regarding the matter. I called Wal-Mart Ethics (Customer Experience) and was told that suspect-thieves of such small amounts are, probably, just asked to stay out of the store, but it is up to the individual store management to prosecute or not. I spoke a Wal-Mart Employee who asked managers what happens in these small-theft situations. They stated if there was no police report, there could not be a lawsuit, that $20 is too small an amount to prosecute, and Wal-Mart wouldn't associate itself with un-reputable law firms. But has it? I suppose I'll write to Wal-Mart and see what else I can dig up. I want more information! This seems to be so Not Right!!!

(Yours is not the first complaint we've gotten on B&D and Wal-Mart, but the first we've been able to publish.  Folks getting these should contact the Arkansas home office and ask why the nasty policy...)

May 2008    This law firm has really gotten on my last nerve. They have called me every other day since the beginning of April. Even Saturday and Sunday. It's gotten to the point my father is thinking of changing our telephone number. The debt is legitimate but they can't understand no matter how many times I tell them I haven't worked in a year and a half they want me to send money. Can't send money if I don't have a job. Seven days to the end of the month in April and they wanted $600. They also wanted debit and credit card information as well and I won't hand that information to anybody. So when I wouldn't do that they said I would have to suffer the consequences. I don't know where they are calling from and what their address is even if I could send them something.

May 2008    They call at all hours and when I answer the phone they hang up. They called this morning at 9:42am on a Sunday! I don't know of any attorney that would call on a Sunday and I don;t know of any attorney that at least not speak with you when you answer the phone! The funny thing is that these people want money from my fathers estate when he died in 2005. He didn't have anything, except a car which he left my son. ALL his credit cards had that credit life protection on them including the one that they are trying to collect on. Its funny because the card was paid off by the credit life protection plan. So why in the heck they are calling me and not saying anything and why they think ANYONE is responsible for what they think his estate owes well thats BS. Seems like this should be illegal.

I received a letter from these scumbags two years ago, stating that I owe their client Certegy Check Services $153.00, for a bank transaction. When I called this firm, the person on the made a wisecrack saying I hope you enjoy the cellphone you purchase. I told this idiot, the phone was sent back to the company. He called me a liar, so called I called Certegy Check Service to informed them that I sent the phone back and this charge should never have been reported on my credit report as a debt. The person got a real nasty to me and told me not to contact them anymore. So I called the company that sent me the cell phone and they provide me with the tracking number, since it was sent through UPS. UPS sent me a copy of the return slip and copy of the person signature who sign for it. So I sent these idiots a copy of the signed returned slip and never heard from them again...

My dad is getting daily calls from Bennett & Deloney over credit cards his ex-wife had that he knew nothing about. The debt probably occurred back in 1999. They threaten him, harass him daily. He is 83 with a heart condition.

Here's a fun fact...No coin is required to call an 800 number from a payphone. However the recipient of the call (ie Bennett & Deloney) has to pay 55 cents per call. Next time you are stuck somewhere that has a payphone, call these morons a couple of dozen times and say hello. 800-815-1177. It's really fun to hear them get frustrated when they answer and the person on the other end doesn't say anything. It's also extremely satisfying to know that I have just wasted their time and money. Happy Dialing

I purchased a treadmill about 6 years ago from Icon Health and Fitness. I was unable to make the payments and Icon turned this account over to a Utah company EDS. These people called me at work and I was scared so I had a payment plan. Then EDS stopped calling. Now - after a year - this company Bennett is calling every day to try and collect an additional $379.48. They call every day. I have not paid them a dime because I called Icon Health and Fitness and they said I owe them nothing. Thank you.

I'm getting repeated phone messages to call this law office to settle a claim. I have never faulted on a loan and have excellent credit. Their recorded telephone number is 1-888-571-1190. I refuse to call and have not seen any bills related to their message.
