September 2008 i work at amo in everett for awhile now and it is pretty corrupt but not like what the other person said. there are more than 12 people on the target side and the devil horns thing is made up and bs. yeah things are bs and they turn a blind eye to things which pisses everyone off. the employee tiffany blatantly breaks the fdcpa laws and does drugs but when you bring that to the attention of management they just ignore it. this is not a high paying job with huge commissions and thousands in gift cards, anyone who says so is a liar. i can vouch for it. if you have any questions please ask, i am sick of the place and i have been there for too long, probably will be looking for another job soon.
August 2008 I have been with AMO for over 2 years now. I have made every payment to them since day one. About 4 months ago I get a call from them saying that if I didn't give them my financial information then they would no longer accept payments from me and they would take legal action against me. The very next month I received a call from a different rep stating that payment had not been received and it has been going like this twice now. I send a payment and they claim to not have received it. Come to find out the they have changed their name and address but never told me of the address change. I have sent every payment for 2 years to the same address and now I keep getting calls that payment has not been received. AMO stopped sending me statements over a year ago, it wasn't until last week that I got an actual statement from Nationwide Recovery with the new address for payments.
June 2008 I had dealings with AMO in October 2006 and they were good to me. I had a debt of over $5,000 and they settled for a one time payment of $3,000 which I made promptly. Hopefully they are cleaning up there act. (Did you borrow money from AMO? Is that why you owed them?)
June 2008 Well it starts again. This afternoon AMO Recoveries left a message for my son on my answering machine. My son is currently in Iraq and will be for a while yet. Before he left he had billing disputes with his cell phone company which he believed were straightened via phone contact and in person. Anyway, after ungodly harassment from the Cell company who called me a LIAR, when I told them my son was in Iraq and told me I was him. (They had a copy of his deployment orders). Anyway, after dealing with them and several Bill collectors, and having a break of a couple of months it starts again. Now with AMO Recoveries. You should email us.
2007 i was looking for the AMO website to find a pay online feature. I just wanted to report I've had nothing but amazingly positive experiences with AMO. I've been dirt poor for a long time and am no stranger to collection calls. The rep calling me has always been unfailingly polite and has encouraged me to follow up with the hospital's patient assistance. In contrast, Atlas financial called me only twice, then immediately took me to small claims court that i couldn't respond to. Then they sent a garnishment letter. thank god they don't know where i work now! i just spoke to AMO - I though i owed about $500 but it turns out it's closer to 2K. I offered a payment plan of $100/month. they said to have a formal agreement they'd need $225 but i figure as long as i pay something each month informally it will prevent too much of a hit to my FICO.
2007 I worked for there Target division for over 3 years I can tell you first hand they are corrupt. They are targets only collection agency now they do work directly with TFS but I am not sure on the legality of that. I quit when it got worse basically a common term for the team of 12 that handles target is “put your devil horns on” they practice a lot of illegal activities and as with any collection agency I would only communicate in writing so you have a paper trail. Keep in mind they make a generous commission on your target cards witch are not charged off yet keep that in mind you accounts are only suspended when with AMO they have 1-6 month delinquent accounts do not let them lie to you and say other wise. There are several documented cases where Collectors have taken check over the phone payments and made them for BAL in full when that was not agreed with the debtor. WATCH OUT!!!!
2007 We have not been able to pay our bills for several months. My son was born last year with Down Syndrome and my husband is disabled. We have been waiting for over a year for determination on his case from the VA. According to a letter I received my Target account was turned over to AMO Recoveries in Everett, WA for collections. Tonight I received a phone call from a collection agency trying to collect on this account. My caller ID said I. C. Systems Inc (651)204-1366. The operator became very rude with me, told me to get my act together and pay my bills. She also indicated she would be calling back tomorrow. While researching this company online I found your article. All of the creditors that have called to this point have been courteous and tried to work with me. This is the first time I've had an encounter like this. If it weren't for the fact that I have worked collections for a few businesses in the past, I would have felt intimidated by this woman's threats.
