March 2010 Allied Interstate is a nightmare. They have called me 65 times since Jan 26th...I have kept up with these calls. This is, to me, harassment. Right? I sent them a "Cease and Desist" letter on February 15th, certified mail, and am still getting calls. You can tell they are automated because each day the calls are just a minute or two difference in times. They call my home twice a day and my cell twice a day. The home/cell is just a minute or two apart both times each day. What else can I do? FTC website is overloaded taking complaints right now.
December 2009 received a call the beginning of this year from an 800 number stating that I was in debt for $2000.00 on a credit card. I told the guy that I did not know what he was talking about and that I do not have anything on my credit, that if he was trying to collect for a debt he needed to send me something in writing. He hung up on me and never disclosed the company he was calling from but had my name. Every once in a while I would get a call from number 1-800-214-8742. Every time I answered there would be someone on the other end and they would not say anything and would hang up. I just ignored the calls because they weren't very frequent. About a month ago someone called again and asked me to confirm my name and said that I owed money. I told the guy that he needed to stop calling my house, that I really was not sure what he was talking about, and to please send me something in writing. I asked him several times what company he was calling from and I could not understand what he was saying. Last week I received another call from this number and verified my name and told them the same thing and to stop calling, that they did not have any validity in their claim and cannot keep calling my house without notifying me of who they are. They have continued to blow my phone up for the last week, calling all hours of the day. A few days ago I received a call again at 9pm at night. I immediately called the number back and asked the lady to spell the name of the company. She spelled "Allied." I went online and found an address for this Allied Interstate, Inc. that matched the 800 number above. I have filed a complaint with the FTC and the attorney generals office. I have sent them a certified letter to request being taken off of this phone list and to be contacted by mail only if they are trying to collect for something. I have called their attorney that is responsible for removing people from this phone list (found online) and have left a few messages. Needless to say I received another call today from the 800 number above. These are horrible collection practices. They are not even trying to collect for a valid debt from me. I don't understand how a company can call your house, blow up your phone, and harass a person without even disclosing who they are or send you something in writing. This company is outsourcing it's collection from India and the people that call don't even speak English efficiently. This company needs to be stopped. Thank god some other people were frustrated enough with these people to post their information online, otherwise I would have not been able to even find the name of the company and match it to the number as easy as I did. This company is a nightmare. They need to be stopped!
May 2009
435 Ford Rd. Suite 800 Minneapolis, MN 55426 I looked this
up because the fax number they printed on the letter they
sent to me demanding money, is a bogus number and I found
that apparently all of the numbers this company uses. They
have harassed many. Including me.

April 2009
Snirk...these geniuses are at it again!. Upon Googling
a phone number that kept on appearing on the Caller I. D. at
8 a. m., it turned out to be them, which I was surprised at,
since I sent them Bud's cease and desist letter just a
little over a year ago.. I've never had the same agency ever
call me twice; I assume because they couldn't collect a
single penny from me the first time around, that showed that
they weren't competent to take the same account a second
time (note to Bud or anyone on his staff, feel free to
correct this if I'm wrong, it's just what I think).
So I called them today to get their address to send them a
second letter, which the guy who picked up the phone asked
if I had gotten a letter from them. No, if I had, I would
have cross-referenced the P. O. box with your street address
on Bud's site (most places in general send you a P. O. box
address to send payments to) to send my certified letter to
and we wouldn't even be talking, pal!.
Well, he asked for my phone number, and when I gave it to
him, he responded with a name I had never heard of. Good
going! This is my parents' house (that I had to move back
into), they've lived here for over 35 years, this is their
phone number, which they've also had for over 35 years! I
have no idea how they got this person's name with our phone
number but that's pretty sloppy for someone who's never
lived here, nor had this phone number indeed! He said it
should be removed from their system within 48 hours; if
they're still calling here next week, I'll call again and
have my digital recorder running, and take photos of the
Caller I. D. with their number on it..
However, I think it's a good sign that, this time around,
they haven't been leaving messages (unlike last time, which
I'll be turning over the recordings to my consumer affairs
attorney for them violating rules), plus he picked up the
phone immediately. Why? Because with all these agencies now
marked "CLOSED" on Bud's site, it looks like the ax is about
to fall on yet another agency. Wah, boo hoo, too bad.
Just as long as I can get my money from them first.
(Here's the number they've been calling me from:

April 2009 Allied Interstate in W Palm Beach FL 3111 S Dixie Hwy Ste101 This company has been harassing me everyday about a debt that I paid in full to a different company on Sept 2008 - I try to fax the letter that I have that states it is paid in full and their fax number is either busy or no answer. When I try to call back they just keep hanging up on me- HOW NICE!!
February 2009 These clowns began by calling my family trying to get them to pay what they say I owe I called them and first talked to some guy calling him self William Hector he told me i was a low life son of a b!@#h and that he was going to come to my house and hang me by my feet and beat me with a baseball bat to my head that he was a gangster and i guess i should not have had it on speakerphone for my wife and kids heard this and was scared that this guys was really going to come to our house and hurt us all over $144.00 he says i owe i was horrified that he was talking to me this way then he hung up on me called me back not 2 minuets later and said are you going to pay me or do i have to come there and hurt you and your family so i called a lawyer and he told me not to give in to them that what he was doing was a felony and if he calls back to tell them not to call u anymore well i did just that he called about 2 hours later asking me once again if i was going to pay him or does he have to come to my house i told him what the lawyer told me to tell him and he told me he was not going to stop he didn't have to stop that i had no right telling him to stop the he was going to get this money even if he had to kill me to get it this is not cool at all!!!! what can i do about this does anyone know that can help me?
February 2009 Another contact number for these ghouls is 800-935-5152. They called the law office of a collection attorney by mistake today. BIG mistake.
February 2009 Allied interstate, which has to be the stupidest collection agency on earth, or at least in India (where their call center is located), repeatedly calls for my stepson, is informed he does not live at our number and given a new # to call. They continue to call our home, and every time I give them the number and tell them not to call, they obviously are reading from a script because they say the same thing.
January 2009 Ok, I know everyone hates bill collectors and you all think we're the scum of the earth, but think about this for a second. You go to college (and take student loans to pay for it), get your education and go on to become a wonderful whatever...you think life is grand, great paying job, maybe a family and who knows what else, possibilities are endless. Fast forward 5 years.....job's not so great, getting divorced, whatever; and you start to get notices about defaulted student loans. You pay no attention and figure it's all taken care of when you file bankruptcy after the divorce. Fast forward another 10 years......things are starting to look up again, until payday when you realize about 15% of your pay is missing from a garnishment....then you get a phone call from your ex-spouse ranting and raving about how your kid got denied student loans because you never paid yours and now how will they pay for college??? News flash, you can't file bankruptcy on federal debt unless there are extreme reason's..(ie - you're a vegetable). it's been that way since 1998. Think it's a little far fetched....think again. As a current employee of Allied Interstate for the Department of Education these are the phone calls I get everyday from pissed off people who don't take the time to do some research and actually listen to what we are saying. If you think you're untouchable when it comes to Federal debt because you're not working and apply for Social Security, think again people.....you're asking for Federal money and you owe a Federal debt......they can and do garnish that as well. Please take five minutes and check out this web site www.1800iwillpay.com click on contact us then on collection agencies, you will see that Allied Interstate is one of the government contracted agencies. Look around the web site and you might find some surprising information. Still not satisfied, fine call the Department of Education, but if you loan is placed with an agency they will ref er you right back to that agency. The only way the Department of Education will talk to you is if you're making arrangements to pay the balance in full that day....anything less they refer to the agency that's holding the account for the time being. Also, here's an insider tip, every time you're account is transferred from one agency to another the Dept. of Ed adds 25% penalty fees....so get into a repayment program ASAP....they usually only let an account stay at an agency for about 6-8 months....then it's pulled, fees added and off to another agency. Sincerely, A bill collector who would rather help you than recommend you for wage garnishment.
December 2008
Received a letter from Allied Interstate on an LVNV
purchased account. When I called Allied the girl was very
friendly said the account was charged off in 1999. She went
on to say that if I did not pay it, LVNV would continue
collection activity. When asked to explain this she said
that LVNV cannot look at my credit any longer or take legal
actions. She said they can continue to call me and send
letters. When I thought about that it seems like a great
idea. What if 5,000-10,000 people stopped paying LVNV and
forced them to pay collectors to call and send letters on
old debts. If nobody paid they would spend a lot of money
chasing their tails. spending money they will never recover.
Watta ya think, is this a good idea?
Great idea! If they are that
desperate (stupid?) make them pay for it. It's no secret
that LVNV Funding has little or no documentation to validate
the vast majority of accounts they claim are owed. I can't
imagine how many consumers were screwed out of money by
information LVNV posted on credit files. We are aware that
LVNV Funding is experiencing a downturn in collections, so
added expenses such as you describe may further hinder their
bottom line. Free riders like LVNV have seen their day, time
for the American consumer to strike back and their biggest
weapon is their wallet. Thanks for writing.
December 2008 I had a student loan that went to collections to these guys and they are affiliated with NCO as well. They are a horrible agency and our laws with the FDCPA here in Canada are nearly the same as yours. This guy called and called again and again and in one day called 7 times in a row simultaneously. I ended up calling in to the manager and they stated that they would take care of it ...Well the next day he did it again ! I have a file going against them now.
November 2008
Allied has switched most of their calls to India. They are
REALLY hurting there and ripping debtors in the U.S. for
money. The Allied Interstate department to have your name
removed from India call centers is...
Kurt Tullar, Esq. Vice President,
Legal iQor, Inc. 335 Madison Ave.
27th Floor New York, N.Y. 10017
Ph: 646-375-6187 Kurt's a good guy, will take
good care of you, just let him know about the problem.
October 2008 Got 2 calls from them today. 1st one, they didn't leave a message; second time I answered. The Woman was rude and disrespectful. I asked for them to send me information about the alleged debt (Student loan). She refused, and claimed they had sent a letter. (they have not) I asked if the 'letter' had been certified, but she cut me off and used bullying tactics by repeatedly saying, 'the debt isn't going to go away. I repeated several times that I would not agree to anything until I had physical info and proof of the debt in hand, she carried on so viciously that I finally said, "I am done with you" and hung up the phone. I also have a problem with the fact that she did not ask me for my last 4 SS# numbers and address, but simply read them off. If I were not the person they were looking for, I could still have said 'yes' and gotten personal info about someone else. Rude. Disrespectful of person and personal info.
September 2008 To the person who thinks a cease and desist letter will stop these idiots think again. I sent a letter via certified return receipt and they continue to call from two times to a dozen times per day. I know they're breaking FDCPA rules and that's why I have hired a good attorney. My attorney is filing a lawsuit against them for harassment and to discharge my student loans due to disability. Good luck to anyone who is dealing with these scums.
September 2008 I keep getting calls from them, but they hang up - - harassment? My caller ID says Allied Interstate, but when I call the number back, I get "The Verizon customer you are calling is not available at this time, please try your call later" It is a number not listed in the hading for this company on your website. The number is 866-720-1469
August 2008
These guys have been calling my residence once a day, every
day for 2 weeks. After doing some research on the number and
the company online I had my husband bring me a digital
recorder so I could record the call when I finally decided
to answer. They ended up asking for my MIL by name. I told
them that there is no one here by that name. He gave me an
address and asked me to verify it (which was my MIL's) and I
told him that the address was incorrect. He tried to ask me
what my name was but I told him that I wasn't giving it
because I'm not the person he was looking for. I then asked
him where he was calling from and not surprisingly, the
answer he gave was unintelligible (twice). I could tell at
this point he was getting frustrated with me and he finally
said that he was from a financial institution. Playing dumb,
I asked him if it was a bank. His answer was yes, you can
say that.
I finally told him I was sorry but there was no one here by
that name and that the address was incorrect. He apologized
back and said that he would take my number off of his list.
Wanting to hold them to their statement, 3 hours later I
called the number listed above(800-806-3342) and they said
my number was no longer in their system. Let's just hope it
stays that way.

Hmm whoever posted below it's legal and acceptable for these
debt collecting yahoos to call your work, family, and
neighbors needs to better educate themselves! According to
the FTC at their site:
http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/consumer/credit/cre18.shtm:
-They may only contact family or friends once -to get
updated info on your address or phone number and cant reveal
anything to anyone except you and your lawyer if you have
one, about your debt.
-If you notify a company by certified mail (return receipt
for proof) to cease all calls and to only contact you by
mail only, then they have to respect your privacy!! See the
following info for details, as listed by the FTC:
If you established that the debt is yours and you don’t feel
comfortable dealing with a collector via phone, tell them
you want all future correspondence in writing. You need to
send this request via a certified mail and request a return
receipt. If you want to allow calls only between 5pm and
6pm, tell them about it in the letter.
-By law collection companies are required to respect your
privacy and will have to cease all phone calls to your home,
relatives, neighbors, and work.
Once you have their claims in writing it’s easier to seek
legal help, and keep records of your correspondence.
Send all your responses to bill collectors via Certified
Mail. This way you will have proof of receipt by the
addressee.
Remember that the amount they claim you owe is negotiable.
You can negotiate the total amount due, number of payments,
and the payment deadline. Once you worked out the payment
plan, request it in writing.
What a debt collector CANNOT do:
-Use deceptive practices. For example, threaten you with
arrest or trick you into paying for collection calls.
-Use obscene language.
-Call you at work after you tell them that your boss does
not approve these calls.
-Deny you the right to receive a written notice (within five
days after your first phone conversation) that would tell
you how much you owe and the name of the creditor that says
you owe the money. If you do not receive the notice within
five days, call the collection agency and ask for its
address and fax number. Then, send a letter to the collector
noting its failure to send you the required notice. As a
minimum, make a note in your file.
-Refuse to give its name and the name of the collection
company when asked.
-Put a debt on your credit report if you file a dispute.
-It must validate the debt by obtaining a verification of
the debt or a copy of a judgment from the creditor before
continuing their collection efforts. The results of the
investigation must be mailed to you.

Allied Interstate is
a bunch of clowns! They called my home in April threatening
me that they were going to have my husbands wages garnished
if I did not take out a loan with Citi Financial to cover
the debt. I was ticked, so I hung up the phone on them. I
then mailed a "cease and desist" letter via certified /
return receipt mail. I was still ticked off that I got
online and filed a complaint with the Michigan Attorney
General. Today I received a letter for the Attorney General,
with a copy of the letter that they received from the jokers
at Allied. This is what Allied had to say:
1) My husband requested proof of the debt. They then said
they sent proof with a letter along with the statement from
American Express. We never received a letter from these
"folks" and the statements always came from AmEx.
2) They did continue to call after my letter was received
but the agent was "mistaken" and called anyway. The agent
was then "disciplined in accordance with our standard
policies". Yeah, right!
3) My husband called THEM on May 27th regarding his credit
report and if there was any discrepancies on the account.
What? My husband did not do such thing and I have phone
records to prove it.
4) We paid $4037.32. Yes, we paid the debt off to American
Express - never would I cut a check to those SOB's
This is just another example that Allied Interstate are a
bunch of liars and bottom feeders. Don't deal with them!!
July 2008 I just received a letter from these clowns. They say they acquired the debt from LVNV and it's an ancient debt from a long closed company that was discharged in bankruptcy over 9 years ago. And they have associated my name with the account even though I was never actually a holder of the account, only of a secondary card. I'm not giving these clowns what they want.
June 2008 Got a call from 1-866-383-5072 I answered the phone and heard a lady ask for my wife. The name she asked was wrong and I said no one hear by that name. The she asked again by the correct name. I said this is her husband what can I do for you. She said what is your wife's birthday? I said what company are you calling from. She said I can't tell you that with out you giving me her birthday to verify information. I said I am not giving you any info until you tell me what company you are from. She said I can't do that with out knowing her birthday that is illegal. I said o.k. good bye and hung up. All of our bills are paid and we are not behind on anything and she never had any student loans, we have never declared bankruptcy, and we have a very good credit rating.
June 2008 (Been awhile since anyone's complained about Allied...) Got a call from these folks today. Having had my own go-around with these kinds of scumbags, I knew better than to give them anything. So, this woman calls, with a barely understandable accent, asking for my sister "Betty." I of course replied, "I'm sorry, there's no one here by that name." Then the woman asked me if I knew Betty and I repeated my initial answer. The woman then said something that sounded like "this call is being recorded" and hung up. My husband tells me that someone from this number has been calling our house for about a week and hanging up on him. I looked these folks up on the internet to find out that they are Allied Interstate. The number where they called from is 866-825-4573. I then notified our mother that if these individuals should call her home or business, DO NOT, under ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, give them any information!!
2007 I just want to chime in and say how disillusioned all of you are in regards to debt collections. Read the FDCPA and you will realize it is 100% legal to contact your neighbors, family and friends in order to get in contact with you. It is completely legal to contact your place of employment and get wage garnishment information (if in regards to a defaulted student loan with the Dept. of Education). (Nashville - excellent letter, but it won't be published without an email address. Pity - it sounded intelligent...)
2007 I have a question...I'm not sure if this has ever been asked before...but do the original debtors know/have knowledge of what tactics or level of aggressive-ness these agencies will go to?...i'm curious because if they know Allied does what they do...then they would/could they also be responsible in some way for subjecting you to these obviously illegal, exaggerative ..not to mention disrespectful tactics of companies such as AI. was just a thought...like maybe sending a letter to the local news people or something if it involved a local utility or cable sat. tv service carrier...any of them really. - Love the site Thanks !!! :)
2007 This company has been after me for months, trying to collect on a discharged student loan that was discharged in Federal Court over a year ago. They call me and said rude and dishonest things. They have phoned my elderly mother and pretended they are a friend of mine from college, then yell at her she is breaking the law protecting me. LISTEN TO ALL OF YOU BEING HARASSED WITH PHONE CALLS BY ALLIED INTERSTATE. You probably don't know this but you can stop the phone calls. For more details, call the FTC and speak to their Consumer Protection department. All you have to do is write a "Cease Contact" letter to Allied Interstate stating that you are forbidding them from ever telephoning you again. They can still write to you, but once you send them the "Cease Contact" letter and tell them that you immediately demand that they never phone you anywhere again or you will report them to the FTC, guess what? It works. If they keep calling you, start keeping a record of the name of the Allied Interstate caller, the date and the time of day the call was received. (And you can then hang-up on them!). If you can establish that Allied Interstate is still harassing you, the FTC will investigate them and if the finding is in your favor, you may collect as much as $1000 for every illegal phone call they place to you. Just make sure you send your "CEASE CONTACT" letter by certified mail so you have proof that they got it. You don't ever have to talk to them again once you tell them to obey your "Cease Contact" letter and that you are forwarding records of all their calls to the FTC so you can try to collect the $1000 fines. They still write me but they don't call me anymore!!!!!
2007 I spoke with a person at Allied Interstate for the 2nd time today regarding a debt I was trying to work out a way to get this paid. They wanted payment today even went so far as to tell me to borrow someone else's credit card to pay it. I said no I can send a money order only. He informed me they dont work that way. I have the whole conversation on tape and not once during that conversation did he inform me "this is an attempt to collect a debt and any information obtained will be used for that purpose" I will continue to record calls with them and see how many other times they violate the law. 1st time I spoke to someone they told me they didn't want my F******ing money!! first time I heard that one from someone that wanted money so that made me decide to record all further phone calls with them. Tape is probably worth more than what you owe them...
2007 I work as a service coordinator with a non-profit agency serving individuals w/developmental disabilities. One client, with mild mental retardation, called a 1-800 number last year and received a cell phone with Sprint, no credit check required. When we learned of this, we contacted Sprint and were told if we returned the phone the client's account would be closed and all charges removed. We did, but the charges were turned over to Allied Interstate collection agency. In January my client received a collection notice and I phoned Allied to explain my client was not able to open accounts on her own and was not liable for the charges made to the cell phone account. I was told that if I provided a copy of her psychological and medical evaluations, proving her diagnosis, the charges would be removed. I did so, and she has continued to receive harassing phone calls. I called Allied yesterday, and spent the better part of 4 hours on the phone with them. Of course, that includes the times I had to call them back because they hung up on me. They were trying every tactic to get out of talking to me. At one point, the representative must have thought I was on mute, because I heard her laughing with her colleague. When she came back on the phone I asked her to repeat what I had just said, and she hung up on me. I stated in no uncertain terms that their company was harassing an individual with mental retardation, but they obviously do not have the moral capacity to realize this is not only wrong, but illegal. I will keep fighting for my client because she cannot fight for herself. I just feel for those people who actually do owe money through this company, because if they will harass the mentally challenged, I'd hate to see what other lows they will stoop to.
2007 Collectors continue to call on almost a daily basis. Alleged debt is beyond SOL in North Carolina and FDCPA cease communication request has been sent and received. Collector claims they don't have to quit calling just because a letter was sent and will continue to call because the debt will "never go away, and neither will we." What clowns.
2007 to all who owe student loans with the dept of ed as a former collector of the company i would not pay the company a penny...being that they are not the government services division and there is nothing that the company can do to you but forward your loan back to the dept of ed who then will forward it to another agency but i repeat to all do not pay your student loan with Allied or let them place you in any sort of comp or rehab!!!! Yeah, I don't know if that's such good advice...
2007 I've been receiving phone calls from a "Mrs. Williamson" who works for Allied Interstate. She calls me once a day, and says the same thing. "If you do not call me back, my supervisor has advised me to recommend a "refusal" and I'll move ahead with your case." And then she proceeds to tell me that I'm irresponsible for thinking my debt will disappear if I ignore her calls. I think she is a joke and so is the whole company. Thankfully, I'm working with a credit solutions company who is working to settle with the creditcard company. I shouldn't have to deal with the repeat calls for much longer, and I'm truly sorry for anyone else that has to! Contact us in three months and tell us how your credit solutions company works out. We've been waiting for years for a success story and haven't heard one yet...
2007 These jokers have cranked up a $2000 debt to $10000. I called the original credit card issuer to ask how it was possible for a debt they charged off in 2003. I got one of the good people on the phone that day, folks. She told me, between she and I, that if they are going to sue they just do it, they don't involve a collection agency. She couldn't take my payment. Allied Interstate has threatened to sue me, called me a deadbeat and threatened to sue me repeatedly. The fact is they can't. When you call them on it they suddenly get VERY agreeable and more agreeable still when you mention that the state of Minnesota sued them for illegal practices against consumers. They flat out lied to me that they bought the account. The credit card company told me that they have in-house collections to take care of accounts and when it goes to a collection agency they are out of the loop and have written off the loss. They aren't "partners", they are just bottom feeders.
