September 2009
This company began calling my home in April,
2009. They said they were collecting on a Texaco Account
from 2003. I explained that I had no records of any debt
with Texaco and expected documentation in the mail from them
validating this claim. The representative told me that I had
to write to them requesting such documentation! No way! I
told them I disputed the claim and would not pay them a
cent. I told them that if I owed money to Texaco (I don’t) I
would pay Texaco directly. I told them to quit calling my
house.
They continued to call. The next time I answered the phone I
told the representative that I disputed this claim, that I
already explained that to another representative, and that I
thought they had a pretty good scam going – calling people
up on the phone telling them they owed money just to see
what they could get. The fact that they refuse to provide
records, documentation, etc… just elevates this in scam
status as far as I’m concerned. I told them, again, that I
wasn’t going to pay them a dime and that they should stop
calling my house.
They haven’t called in over 2 months. I checked my credit
records this weekend and they have not reported anything to
my credit files.
January 2009 Bud's right on the law suits. A little research shows about 8 or 9 in the past five years. They all get settled because these guys aren't going to trial. There's a consumer attorney in North Texas who has their number - in more ways than one.
